History of Coffee

Coffee is not today’s fancy drink; it was invented around the 15th century. And now, it is known as one of the most popular drinks worldwide. It is believed that a legend, Kaldi, discovered coffee plants after seeing his flock become energetic after chewing on a plant. From there, a monk discovered coffee as a source of energy and inspiration.

On the other hand, Ethiopia is considered the place of origin of coffee. The word coffee derives from the word “Kaffa”, which was a primary coffee-producing plant in Abyssinia (Modern Ethiopia). From Ethiopia, coffee was brought to other countries like Yemen, where Yemeni people began to systematically cultivate coffee beans.
